Local initiatives
Together we can make a real difference
Together we can make a real difference
Countries around the world are at different stages in their sustainability journey. In the UK (change to your country), the environmental aspect of sustainability is very much under the spotlight. In 2020, the UK government put in place a 25 year plan to improve the environment. We must all do our part for this plan to succeed. And little efforts add up to making a real difference.
On this page, we have compiled a number of initiatives that Wellspect's UK office has taken part of, in support of sustainability. If you would like to propose activities for Wellspect to be part of, drop us an email at (enter your local email address if such exists or re-direct to a contact form?).
Wellspect supported the UK based charity Back Up trust in a gruelling cykling challenge this year. The challenge saw over 37 Back Up cyklists and 5 handcyklists covering 500km (300 miles) in 3 days. Wellspect's UK Marketing Manager, Alan Cook, was part of the ride with his handcykle.
For over 30 years, Back Up has helped individuals rebuild their lives after traumatic spinal cord injuries. We are incredibly proud to support Back Up.
Wellspect was hosted by UK's Sustainability Partnership initiative in a webinar exploring cutting edge green solutions. In the webinar, Wellspect's senior R&D scientist Åsa Westling talked about Wellspect's ongoing research to create innovative continence care products with as little environmental impact as possible.
Gosia Kowalewska, from Whebridge, is Wellspect's UK brand manager and local sustainability ambassador. A role that exists in the 18 countries in which Wellspect is present.
Beyond translating our global strategies to the local market, I am part of a taskforce that zooms in and explores how we can reducce the climate impact of our activities, explains Gosia. The latest project we worked on related to the installation of power plugs for electric cars in front of the office. It may sound trivial, but i find it very exciting as there are many smaller initiatives playing out at our UK office at the same time. And smaller initiatives add up to make a real difference, concludes Gosia.
