A catheter is a small tube that you can use to go to the bathroom. Catheters are thin and slippery, so it won't hurt when you put one in. They might feel a little weird at first, but it doesn’t hurt at all.
When you see your nurse or doctor, they will be able to show you how to use a catheter. Your doctor or nurse is an expert in peeing with a catheter, and they will help you to be an expert too!
They also will also talk to you about how many times a day you need to pee with your catheter. This is different for everyone, and they will work out a special plan just for you! Be sure to talk to them about important times in your day, like your recess, lunch break or the time you get home from school.
Don’t be shy about asking them lots of questions, even if they sound weird or crazy! How we go pee is just another thing that makes everybody unique.
