A catheter is a small tube that you can use to go to the bathroom. They are nice and slippery, so it won't hurt. It might feel a little weird at first but there's nothing to be scared of! How we go pee is just another thing that makes everybody unique!
Your doctor or nurse will be an expert in peeing with a catheter, and they will be able to show you exactly what to do. Before you know it, you will be an expert too! It’s ok to ask them lots of questions about peeing, even the ones that sound weird or crazy! They will be sure to know the answer.
They will also talk to you about how many times a day you need to pee with your catheter. This is different for everyone and they will work out a plan just for you. You can help them do this by telling them the best times for you, like your recess, lunch break or the time you get home from school.Watch the video below to learn more about why and how boys use catheters!
